Hey there!

I'm Tracee, the proud owner of Cohen Pups - our small-scale, family-run breeder of our lovable Borderdoodle pups right here in the GTA, Ontario, Canada!

My journey started on a farm where my father bred and raised brilliant working Border Collies, passing down a legacy of exceptional dogs. Fast forward to 2018, my father and I decided to bring Angus into the family – a very special male stud with an impressive lineage. Angus's great grandfather won the Calgary Stampede World Stock Dog Championship in 2015 - beating over 100 of the world's brightest and fittest dogs. Angus, has grown into an incredibly intelligent, obedient, and affectionate adult with a silky black and white coat.

Now, let me tell you why we chose Mini-Poodles instead of the standard ones for our breeding program. After significant research we discovered that most Bordoodle breeders were on the West Coast of Canada, which made it challenging for us in southern Ontario to visit the puppies and their families before purchasing one for our own family. The few breeders in Ontario were crossing Standard Poodles with Border Collies, resulting in offspring that were much larger than what we wanted. Determined to play the long game, we found the perfect solution – a beautiful, purebred Mini-Poodle named Zoe. Our goal was to breed Mini-Bordoodles, small enough to comfortably fit in any home.

With a passion for these amazing breeds and a desire to create the most adorable and family-friendly companions, we're thrilled to share the joy of our precious Borderdoodle litters with you. Come join our furry family and experience the magic of our Mini-Bordoodles!

Training Program

About Our Training Method

- BioSensor Training Method -

During Days 2-16

Early neuro-stimulation known as Biosensor training.  Biosensor training is a military canine training program. This is a proven technique demonstrating that dogs who are handled using the biosensor routine were found to outperform litter mates, have greater adaptability and resilience, and to have longer life spans. This daily training consists of exposure to grooming clipper vibrations, feet being handled and nails trimmed, the quick stimulation of discomfort using a cold cloth on their paw pads and between their toes, being cradled, various noises including tracks of fireworks, thunder, babies crying, and urban traffic.

During Weeks 3-12

Advanced pre-potty training and an initiation to crate-training.  We start with an elevated area of cedar chips, so pups become familiar with having a particular place to potty.  Once they have the general idea, we move that to a roll of sod, so they associate specific grassy areas with elimination.  Next they are introduced to outdoors and a specific area of grass outside to use as a potty spot.  Finally, we introduce the crate and remove the sod, so they know the potty spot is only outside.  At this phase, we incorporate a bell so the puppies are trained to transition from indoors to outdoors by a sound.  We provide the same bell to each home adopting a puppy so they can easily continue this training.

Socialization is key for puppies between 3-12 weeks of age.  We provide the puppies with individual daily interaction to set them up for success and begin the process of learning appropriate behavior.  This is a crucial time for puppies to become aware of their surroundings, learn social skills, explore and discover, experience fear of noises and objects for the first time, and overall glean information from litter-mates, parent dogs and humans about what it means to be a dog.  This time period is important for intentional, consistent interaction.  We are working with the dogs every day to provide eye contact, familiarity with foot sitting, coaching on not biting, name recognition (when buyer provides name with deposit), submission to older dogs, handling and cuddling by children and adults, and coming when called.  We build equipment for them to climb or navigate to practice developing their balance, confidence, and coordination.  We also believe in keeping food available to the puppies rather than having them on an eating schedule.  This is a unique method that teaches puppies to regulate their eating, rather than gorge themselves when food is provided in intervals.  This method helps alleviate anxiety around food, and frees adoptive families to have more flexibility with their schedules.
